Iron based alloys with 5% Ni have been used for many years for the piercing of steel billet to form seamless tubes. These tubes are used primarily for 'down hole' oil extraction applications, where quality is critical. Longer length tubes are increasingly in demand and as the length of tube increases, so too does the need for a more wear and heat resistant alloy.

Galvanised Line Bushings
Stellite produces galvanized line bushings to solve corrosion problems caused by the many combinations of lead, zinc and aluminium chemistries used in galvanising pots in temperatures ranging from 800F-1100F. Using STELLITE® 6 and Tribaloy T-800 Bushings and Bearings can increase their life from 1-2 weeks to 3-5 weeks.
Twister Rolls
Manufactured from STELLITE® 250 (Umco50) these are used to support the bloom of hot steel as it exits the continuous caster. STELLITE® 250 was selected due to its ability to maintain its hardness and wear resistance at high temperature.
