Sometimes, new or customized alloys are developed to better meet the requirements. Proprietary process development and improvement projects are on-going at all times at every division of Kennametal Stellite.
Kennametal Stellite's engineers use not only internal but also external resources to do research and development. The organization has partnered with many universities and research institutes all over the world. The current partners are Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Carleton University (Canada), National Research Council of Canada, Texas A&M University, and West Virginia University. Past partners include, University of Birmingham, University of Sheffield, UMIST, Leeds University, and TWI in U.K., Pennsylvania State University in the U.S., Toronto University in Canada, and Xiang Tan University in China.
